Statement by the Ombudsman for Children on the suspended investigation into the handling of the child protection Audit of Catholic Church Dioceses by the HSE and the Department of Health
A meeting took place at the Ombudsman for Children’s Office today between the Ombudsman for Children’s Office and the Health Service Executive to discuss the level of cooperation that the Ombudsman for Children has received from the HSE to date in relation to her investigation into the child protection Audit of the Catholic Church Dioceses by the HSE and the Department of Health/OMCYA.
At the meeting, the Health Service Executive handed over a file. This file will be examined by the investigation team over the coming weeks. Following the examination, the Ombudsman for Children will determine whether the investigation can proceed.
No further comment will be made by the Ombudsman for Children’s Office until the file is examined in full.
