The Ombudsman for Children’s Office launches Children’s Rights in the Balance: Annual Report for 2025.
The report highlights the experiences of children and young people across Ireland and the issues impacting their lives, from housing and education to disability services, mental health and online safety.
Some of the key findings include:
🗣️ 1,778 complaints were made to the OCO in 2025
📚 Education remained the most complained about issue to the OCO
🏠 Almost 5,000 children were living in emergency accommodation by the end of 2025
📱 63% of young people surveyed said they had come across extremist content online
