The Big Debate

Among the Ombudsman for Children’s obligations are to raise awareness of children’s rights and how they may be enforced as well as to consult with children and young people and highlight issues relating to their rights and welfare, which are of concern to children and young people themselves.

In November 2012, the OCO hosted a special event to facilitate 175 students from schools in Dublin, Clare, Monaghan, Laois and Limerick to debate the issues involved in the Children Referendum. The Big Debate was compared by Joe Duffy and took place on 6 November 2012 at the Aviva Stadium.
