OCO’s submission to the review of the EPSEN Act 2004 to the Department of Education

In December 2021, the Minister for Special Education and Inclusion launched a review of the Education for Persons with Special Educational Needs (EPSEN) Act 2004. The Department of Education subsequently initiated a public consultation on the review of the EPSEN Act in November 2022. Submitted to the Department on 7 March 2023, the OCO’s observations on the EPSEN Act, and corresponding recommendations for amendments to it, focus on identifying ways in which this legislation can be changed and improved from a children’s rights perspective.
