What does this mean?

It is your right to have healthcare and it’s the government’s job to make sure you can access this.

For example: This can be going to the doctor, the hospital, the pharmacy, physiotherapist, mental health professionals or the dentist.

You should also have clean water, nutritious food, a clean & safe environment and information to help you stay well.

Children in Ireland can get their vaccinations for free and under 16’s can get some free dental services through school programmes.

If you are under 8 years old, you can go to the doctor for free in Ireland.

Emily’s Story

Hi I’m Emily I am 9 years old! I was playing in the back garden and fell off the swing, I hurt my elbow so my mum took me to the hospital. The nurses and doctors were really nice and told me I broke my elbow. I had a few check-ups after this to make sure I was getting better.
