Children’s Rights Briefing Papers for Legislators, Civil and Public Servants

The OCO has produced briefing papers on individual children’s rights to increase awareness and understanding of children’s rights. These briefing papers can be used by anyone to improve their knowledge of children’s rights. However, we hope that they will be of particular benefit to legislators and civil and public servants to increase their:

• understanding of Ireland’s obligations in relation to the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC)
• recognition of children as individual rights holders
• consideration of children’s rights in the development of legislation and public policy affecting children
• consideration of children’s rights when decisions are being made that impact a child or children
• awareness of the interdependence and indivisibility of children’s rights
