My Work Placement in the OCO

23 February 2023

by Christopher

My name is Christopher and I am 17 years old and I go to school in Dublin. I was diagnosed with autism and ADHD at a very young age. My favourite hobbies are exercising in the back garden on my trampoline. I do lots of big jumps on the trampoline. My other hobbies are dancing and singing and playing the bodhrán very well. I also love drama.

The first time I met the staff from the Ombudsman for Children Office was in February 2022 when I got on the Beyond Limits Youth Advisory Panel. I got to know them by going on all the Zoom calls until the end of the year. We came up with AMAZING ideas for the events.

In February 2023 I came to the Ombudsman for Children’s Office to my work experience placement. I got to do paperwork, upcoming work projects and I saw one school in Ireland travel to the office to go into the glow-in-the-dark cinema to learn about how important it is to know about children’s rights.

My favourite thing about the office was getting to meet Corporate Services and Niall Muldoon and Clare, Aoife, Ailidh and Ger. I had a wonderful time.
