{"id":936,"date":"2011-10-07T13:15:39","date_gmt":"2011-10-07T13:15:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.oco.ie\/?post_type=library&#038;p=936"},"modified":"2018-01-09T12:45:52","modified_gmt":"2018-01-09T12:45:52","slug":"advice-draft-general-scheme-criminal-justice-withholding-information-crimes-children-vulnerable-adults-bill-2011","status":"publish","type":"library","link":"https:\/\/www.oco.ie\/ga\/library\/advice-draft-general-scheme-criminal-justice-withholding-information-crimes-children-vulnerable-adults-bill-2011\/","title":{"rendered":"Advice on the Draft General Scheme for the Criminal Justice (Withholding Information on Crimes Against Children and Vulnerable Adults) Bill 2011"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Minister for Justice, Equality and Defence published the Scheme of a Bill to create a criminal offence of withholding information relating to the commission of arrestable offences, including sexual offences, against a child or a vulnerable adult on 13 July 2011.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs has indicated that she will bring forward legislation placing certain aspects of Children First: National Guidance for the Protection and Welfare of Children on a statutory footing<\/p>\n<p>We consider that the General Scheme of the Criminal Justice (Withholding Information on Crimes Against Children and Vulnerable Adults) Bill 2011 and the proposal to put Children First on a statutory footing consist of an overlap between them with respect to the issue of reporting abuse.<\/p>\n<p>It is recommended therefore that both pieces of legislation be advanced through the Houses of the Oireachtas at the same time and, if possible, in the same Bill.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":937,"template":"","class_list":["post-936","library","type-library","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","resource_type-advice","resource_type-submission","resource_topic-child-protection"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.3 -
