What happens after I have gone through the school’s complaint handling procedure?

If you, after going through the above procedures with the school, remain dissatisfied with the outcome, you can then bring a complaint to this Office.

If the complaint is about the decision a school or board has made we need to understand why you feel the actions were unfair.

We need to see all the relevant correspondence there has been with the school about the complaint, as well as details of the particular administrative action complained about and details of the adverse affect the action may have had on the child.

While complaints may be brought to our attention at any stage during an ongoing complaints handling process with the school, it would normally be our policy not to intervene until these procedures are completed. This gives both sides the maximum opportunity to resolve the issues locally.
